Annual Report Calendar spreads the word “Housing Makes a Difference”
Nonprofit Calendar Printing Case Study
Yolo County in California uses a calendar to gain awareness to help prevent long term homelessness.
The YCH and its affiliates provide over 2,300 affordable housing units throughout cities in the county. The editor of the calendar, Janis Holt says the purpose was to let people know that anyone can fall onto hard times and end up homeless. Flipping through the calendar each page had a heart touching testimonial about someone’s homelessness experience. This gave the reader a very personal touch helping to bring homelessness to their attention.

As a great attention grabber they added cookie recipes. Holt says they came up with the idea of putting cooking recipes right next to the testimonials to give people a reason to keep referring to the calendar. Keeping YCH’s message in front of their audience all year long.
Calendar Specs and Saving Idea:
To save on the designing cost an intern working for them at the time helped with the layout. The calendar was mailed and distributed to Landlords and State Department Agencies throughout California. YCH says they plan on printing another calendar because it was a an effective way to help spread the work “Housing Makes A Difference.”
