Annual Report Helps Private School Raise Money
Education Catalog Printing Case Study
Archbishop Murphy High School got creative by using its annual report to raise money for the school. The report combined student services to change the look and feel to attract parents, alumni, trustees… to donate more money.
Booklet Objective:
Archbishop Murphy High School prints an annual report every year to let parents and donors know about the schools budget. In 2009 they included a donation envelope and a new look in hopes of increasing donations for the school. The annual report illustrates school spending and its sources of annual income. The report also covers the needs of the upcoming year. For the 2009 report the school’s designer, Patti Means, wanted to give the report a personal touch. She decided to incorporate pictures of students and the services they do around their community. By doing this she hoped donors would be encouraged to continue their support of the school by seeing what a difference their money could make.
A donation envelope was included in the middle of the annual report where donors could pull it out to donate money. “ The AMHS Annual Fund enhances our school’s ability to provide the finest education possible for our students” Means stated. The idea for putting the envelope in the middle was to slowly let donors enjoy the report and read about where the contributions were going and encourage them to give their support to the school. It is a great time to ask for money when you are explaining how it benefited you the previous year and what your plans are for the future. All the information they need to know about the school and how it handles its donations is right there to make their decision an easy one.
Means says, the way the economy is going schools need to get creative in the way they ask for money. This is one creative way to gain support and increase donations.
