Ball State University printed a full color calendar printing to attract the student’s attention. The goal was to increase the attendance of students at campus events.
The University’s Objective
Print a calendar that would inform students about campus events. The calendar would be handed out to all students who lived on campus. This gave the school a way to advertise campus activities and keep their students safe on Friday and Saturday night’s.
Hire a student to design the calendar to cut cost. Plus, the university felt students would be more likely to look at the calendar if other students designed it. The student in return for his or her work could use the calendar for their resume.
The calendar had vibrant colors that would attract the student’s attention when hanging on walls in student rooms or in the hallways.
The top pages on each month displayed popular movies that were going to be shown during the month at the campus theater. The bottom pages had other campus event listings.
Through out the calendar the slogan “The Best Party IN Town” was printed. The slogan reminded students to stay on campus Friday and Saturday nights.
Responses Rate
- The university had students who volunteered to go around campus and ask students what they thought about the calendar. Many students said they liked getting a calendar free with campus events. Students also said they used it all the time to see when certain events where being held on campus.
- Ball State University says the calendar was a great branding tool for the university and a large success.
- They also plan on printing similar calendars in the future.
