The Canadian town of Pictou is hoping to bring in more retirees by launching a brochure printing campaign, the New Glasgow News reports.
The Pictou Renaissance Group, which consists of retired residents and local businesspeople, is lending its support to the campaign. First, the group launched a website with information about the surrounding area on it. Now, it is handing out four-color brochures to tourists and other individuals. The PRG hopes to also have a representative at the Nova Scotia Tourist Bureau to lure in visitors as well.
Malcolm Houser, a local designer, created the brochure, which will be available at local businesses as well as bed and breakfasts. Houser also told the source that the PRG is planning to launch a walking guide of the area so tourists can become more familiar with the area.
"When we first came to town we didn't know where anything was," he said. "This walking tour is something they can take in their hand and have with them."
When organizations are designing brochures, they need to make sure they have a strong visual element. A brochure that is all mostly text will be informative, but few consumers will be attracted to them.
