Connecticut Historic District Generates Awareness Through Brochure Printing

This historic district is being promoted through brochures.

06/23/11

The Historic District of Southbury, Connecticut, recently printed guided tour brochures to encourage both residents and tourists to visit the region. The 1,800-brochure campaign was funded by nine local businesses.

Southbury's Historic District printed several hundred of the same brochures earlier this year, which proved very popular but were limited due to funding issues. The participating businesses are expected to gain brand exposure through the latest brochure printing effort.

"When we designed the brochures in 2010, we envisioned that they would be an attractive marketing tool for area businesses," said Ed Edelson, historic preservation coordinator for Southbury. "Enough room was left on the cover to allow businesses to include their name, logo and contact information."

The brochures are distributed at the Southbury Library Reference Desk, the Southbury Town Clerk's office and the Southbury Historical Society museum.

The city of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, is running a similar brochure printing campaign to drive tours through buildings in the Milwaukee Historic District that are architecturally or culturally important, WisBusiness reported earlier this month.
