Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker has given a grant worth $350,000 to Historic Milwaukee to prepare for the organization's upcoming "Doors Open Milwaukee," which is expected to draw more than 6,000 visitors to the area, WisBusiness reports.
The event offers guests the opportunity to check out more than 100 buildings that have architectural, historical or cultural relevance to Milwaukee. According to the source, Historic Milwaukee plans to promote the event through brochure printing, though the organization will also tap new media, public relations and outdoor billboards.
"Tourism is a key driver of Wisconsin’s economy," Governor Walker told WisBusiness. "[This event] will give the local economy a boost and provide a sound return on investment for the state. We will continue to support tourism as we strive to grow our economy and encourage job growth."
Government programs frequently use brochures as cost-effective tools to drive tourism. For example, the city of Savannah, Georgia, recently celebrated is growth as a tourism hot spot and promoted the event through brochure printing.
