New York Town Approves Proposal to Launch Brochure Printing Initiative

The New York town is highlight various tourist attractions.

The town of Massena, New York, is launching a new brochure printing initiative designed to reach prospective visitors. The recently passed proposal calls for $8,500 to be spent on the production and distribution of 30,000 travel brochures.

Massena's top tourist attractions include annual festivals and a number of amenities in the area, according to Supervisor Joseph Gray. The four-page brochure will be displayed at rest stops and visitor centers throughout the state, Gray told the Watertown Daily Times.

Gray also recently oversaw the production of informational booklets about the town, which were aimed more toward local residents.

The council approved Gray's proposal almost unanimously, with only councilman Charles Raiti dissenting. "The Russian Roulette we're playing right now is too chancy," he told the source. "I don't think we need to end up skinning ourselves too close."

As Gray notes, however, brochures are relatively budget-efficient print materials. They cost much less than building a billboard or running a national television advertisement and can often generate a similar response.
