State of Utah Taps Brochure Printing to Boost Tourism

There are a lot of natural attractions in Utah.

The state of Utah has a number of attractions that are popular among locals, ranging from mountains for skiing to scenic redrock formations. As UtahBusiness notes, however, the challenge for the state lies with encouraging consumers to come in the first place.

To address this issues, state agencies recently teamed with local small businesses for a cooperative marketing program to help draw in tourists. Nearly 70 percent of Utah's tourism funds are spent on advertising and marketing, using materials such as paper brochures to reach visitors.

One local couple, who operate R&G Horse and Wagon, were able to generate a few clients through the brochures. For example, one customer picked up a brochure that was part of the printing program and noticed that R&G offered horseback riding. While this tourist was already planning to go to Bryce Canyon, she ended riding a number of times during her vacation.

The city of Milwaukee is similarly using brochures to promote a show about local architecture. The event is expected to bring in several thousands of tourists and generate new jobs for the local community.
