Recent technological advances have enabled brands to bring print materials to life in a number of ways, such as quick response codes and personalized URLs. One strategy that is still relatively niche, but very effective, is augmented reality.
Augmented reality enables businesses to create an image or video that comes to life as consumers look at a physical object through a webcam or smartphone. For example, last year Muscle Milk teamed up with NBA star Shaquille O'Neal. When consumers put the packaging in front of a webcam, Shaq would pop out and deliver a branded message.
Moreover, this technology is becoming less expensive, so businesses should consider leveraging the technology on their next catalog or poster printing initiative.
"The cost of creating AR campaigns has come down significantly. It’s no longer cost prohibitive for businesses," notes the Miami Herald.
For most print campaigns, sticking out from competitors is key. Technology, such as augmented reality, enable brands to do that, leaving an unforgettable first impression.
