With football season on the horizon, Georgia State University is hoping to boost attendance with a multichannel marketing campaign involving print materials, reports Atlanta Business Journals.
The initiative extends across direct mail, billboards, social media, newspaper and radio ads. In particular, GSU is targeting alumni with print materials, which could include postcards and color brochures. "We have a lot of their data," Kosha Irby, associate athletic director at GSU, told the source. "It’s easy to do a mailing effort to them rather than try to blast-market everybody."
George State University hopes the focus on sports will help transform it from a commuter college to a 24-hour campus. The institute already approved a budget increase for the athletic department to support the new marketing campaign.
The GSU Panthers' football season is set to kick off on September 2 at the Georgia Dome.
While GSU is using print materials to promote its sports teams, other colleges use items such as color brochures, postcards and booklets to boost enrollment. A recent article from DMNews suggests that 16- to 18-year-olds are more receptive of print mail than other age groups, which allows universities to reach them more effectively.
