A bleed is an extra 1/8" or (.125") of your image or color that extends beyond the trim area on each side of your printing piece. Your document width and height will increase by a total of 1/4 inch (.25"). Your job is printed on an oversized sheet that is cut down to the exact size giving the appearance that the image "bleeds" off the edge of the paper.
