Welcome back to Behind The Print podcast, where we feature industry leaders and uncover the creative minds behind businesses in the professional printing world. Our mission is to provide you with inspiring, actionable resources to elevate your business projects and accelerate your journey to excellence in profit and print.

Today’s episode is From Pages to the Nations: Inspiring Hope Worldwide, and I’m joined by Amanda Cheatwood, publisher of Revival Magazine and founder of Revival Here Plus There.

Amanda produces a bimonthly, coffee table style print magazine and a broader publishing platform centered on thoughtful conversations with people encountering God in their everyday lives. Her work leans heavily into print, and PrintingCenterUSA has become a trusted partner in producing those magazines and other materials. She is also offering a special Holiday Revival Bundle for our listeners, which we will share more about toward the end of the episode.

Zoe: So Amanda, how’s your morning been so far?

Amanda: It’s great, and I’m so pleased to have this time with you today. I love working with PrintingCenterUSA. I can’t tell you how much I appreciate the experience. It’s always a privilege.

Zoe: We’re lucky to have you on the podcast. I’ve been looking forward to this recording for weeks.

Amanda: Every time I call or have anything going on, it’s just a great experience. One of the reasons I love working with you is that for people who subscribe to the print version of what I do, there’s no advertising. It needs to be really beautiful, something worthy of a coffee table. Printing Center USA nails it every time. The quality and consistency are just amazing, and everyone who holds one says, this is beautiful.

Zoe: I agree. I have my copy here, and that was my first reaction too. It’s gorgeous.

Amanda: The copy you’re holding was produced with a studio I work with, BGTV Studios United Voices. We partner on Revival Talk, which is connected to Revival Here + There, which is my brand, and then Revival Magazine. It all works together.

Zoe: That’s so exciting. So who is your audience? Who are you writing for?

Amanda: I write for people all over the world who want hope and encouragement. People who want solid teachings, people who might be a little burned out by the modern church. Many have been church hurt, and I really want to focus on Jesus and the goodness of God. I’m not here to fluff up ministries. I want to highlight the hands and feet of Jesus, the boots on the ground. There are so many good people doing amazing things, and it’s a privilege to document their stories and help others see what’s happening around them and around the world.

Zoe: So how do you use those stories to amplify that message and drive the encouragement you’re hoping to share?

Amanda: First, the stories appear on the Revival Here + There platform. They spread organically. We’re currently in 64 countries, which still amazes me. For readers who want something tangible, they can subscribe to the print magazines. Annual subscribers also receive an anthology of all the interviews from the previous year, something they can hold and flip through. It’s a blessing to bring these stories to life in print.

Zoe: Sharing those stories and helping people connect to them is huge. What’s your approach to helping authors bring their messages to life?

Amanda: A beautiful part of working with authors is helping them realize that they don’t have to be perfect writers to share something meaningful. Many hesitate because they think their writing isn’t good enough. But often everything centers around conversations. Conversations can be transcribed, and transcriptions can be shaped into something powerful. It’s not as overwhelming as people think it is. It’s a privilege to help get their message into the world.

Zoe: It’s like you’re pulling the important pieces out of the conversation and shaping them. Getting the quotes, the core ideas, and the message where it needs to go.

Amanda: Yes, absolutely. We don’t let a subscription get in the way. All digital articles are free. I don’t attach advertising because I want the message clear and unfiltered. Everything grows organically.

Zoe: Are there other publications doing something similar, or do you feel your approach sets you apart?

Amanda: One of the reasons I began this platform is because many modern church publications are focused on world events or ministry promotion. My mission is different. I want to bring everything back home, to promote the goodness of God, not the promotion of man. That sets Revival apart.

Zoe: What major milestones have you crossed so far?

Amanda: Honestly, the reach into 64 countries in less than a year surprised me. Only in a time like this, with the internet, can we reach the world so quickly. Creating the original content was the easy part. Everything else has grown organically. Once you plant the seed, it grows. It’s like a line of dominoes perfectly placed.

Zoe: And now one of your print subscribers is in Norway, right?

Amanda: Yes, and that tickles me. Someone all the way in Norway receives this publication. In a way, PrintingCenterUSA is connected to Norway now too.

Zoe: I love imagining the globe with lines connecting all your readers until the whole world is covered.

Amanda: It’s amazing!

Zoe: On the flip side, what challenges are you facing right now?

Amanda: I don’t worry much about challenges. The kingdom works differently than the world’s system. You jump in, commit early, and trust the process. Everything builds from there. A challenge for me is keeping the message clean, especially with the podcast. It requires regular heart checks, and that’s the most important part.

Zoe: It’s a testament to how small daily actions add up to big change.

Amanda: Exactly.

Zoe: So tell me, how do you use print?

Amanda: There was a time people said print was dead, but that couldn’t be farther from the truth. There’s a renaissance happening. People are circling back to magazines. They want something tangible, something they can hold when the cell network is down or there’s no electricity. After years of short form content dominating, people want long form content again. They want to slow down and stop feeding their brains junk food. For me, print is central. Books, magazines, and even monthly gifts to subscribers like bookmarks or note cards. There’s no limit.

Zoe: What advice would you give someone wanting to start a religious based mission?

Amanda: Don’t make it about yourself. Don’t try to sell people on a ministry. Think about who you’re representing. Make it about Jesus, not you. That’s one of the biggest problems today. People center things on themselves, and you have to get out of the way and let the Word speak.

Zoe: If you weren’t working on magazines or the podcast and had a free day, how would you spend it?

Amanda: Probably in nature or in the Word. This season has me very driven, so I don’t take as much free time as I need. I love fellowship and spending time with other believers. My downtime connects to my work because I meet so many people with amazing stories.

Zoe: As fellow podcasters, what advice would you give someone starting out?

Amanda: Focus on what you love and don’t make it about yourself. How about you? What would you tell someone just starting out in the podcast world?

Zoe: I would tell them to smile a lot, prepare ahead, avoid technical mishaps, and be authentic.

Amanda: Exactly. Remember, you’re talking to friends you haven’t met yet!

Zoe: Before we wrap up, let’s talk about the holiday season. Amanda is offering the Holiday Revival Bundle, created as a thoughtful yearlong gift. It includes a gifted annual Circle Plus membership with access to ongoing conversations and print editions throughout the year, as well as the forthcoming Here + There hardcover anthology.
