How Interactive Coloring Books Helped Queen Bee Ink Share Black Culture Beyond the Gallery

At PrintingCenterUSA, we love seeing print used as a living extension of art something people can touch, take home, and engage with long after their first experience. For multidisciplinary artist Elisheba Mrozik, founder of Queen Bee Ink, print isn’t just a medium. It’s a way to spread love, respect, and connection through Black identity and culture.

What began as an artistic practice rooted in community and storytelling has grown into a collection of coloring books, books, and printed pieces that invite audiences to actively participate in art.

About Elisheba Mrozik

Elisheba Mrozik is a multidisciplinary artist and tattooer based in [Location, if desired], best known for her bold visual style and deep commitment to celebrating Black culture. Through Queen Bee Ink, her work spans galleries, museums, tattoo studios, and print bridging fine art and everyday interaction.

Her creative process is collaborative by design. Elisheba works closely with historians and poets to ensure her projects are both visually compelling and culturally grounded, blending accurate history with soulful expression.

The Inspiration

For Elisheba, coloring books became a powerful way to extend the life of her art beyond traditional spaces.

“My coloring books are part of my artistic practice of spreading love and respect for Black identity and culture,” she shares. “I collaborate with historians and poets to make sure I have my facts right and the vibe matches my art.”

Rather than creating art that lives only on walls, Elisheba wanted people to take her work home to interact with it, personalize it, and return to it over time.

The Creative Challenge

The challenge was to translate a deeply intentional artistic vision into printed pieces that felt accessible, interactive, and high quality. The books needed to:

  • Preserve historical and cultural integrity
  • Reflect Elisheba’s bold visual style
  • Hold up to repeated use as interactive art
  • Feel meaningful whether experienced in a museum, tattoo shop, or at home

Print quality mattered not just for appearance, but for how people would physically engage with the artwork.

The Printing Solution

Elisheba partnered with PrintingCenterUSA to produce coloring books, business cards, and books that could support her artistic mission while standing up to real-world use.

By choosing professional printing, she ensured each piece felt intentional, durable, and worthy of the stories it carried. The result was print that complemented her work rather than competing with it.

These printed pieces allow her audience to connect with her art long after leaving a gallery or studio turning viewers into participants.

Through print, Elisheba’s work continues to travel far beyond its original setting. Her coloring books have become keepsakes, learning tools, and creative outlets that celebrate Black culture in an interactive way.

“I love using coloring books so that people can take art home and interact with it long after they have left my museum show or my tattoo shop,” she says.

With more books in development, Elisheba is excited to keep expanding her body of work and reaching new audiences through print.

Thinking About Creating Interactive Print Pieces?

Coloring books, journals, and illustrated books are powerful tools for connection. They invite people to slow down, engage, and build a personal relationship with your work.

Tips for Creating Print That Invites Interaction

  • Design with intention: Consider how people will use and return to the piece over time.
  • Honor the story: Collaboration and research add depth and authenticity to creative projects.
  • Choose quality materials: Paper and print quality affect how people experience and value your work.
  • Think beyond the gallery: Print allows your art to live in homes, classrooms, and communities.

Looking Ahead

Elisheba continues to explore new ways to spread love, peace, and soul through art using print as a bridge between artist and audience.
