Summer Social Media Strategies: Boosting Engagement in Vacation Season

Summer is here! Everyone is happy and loving life! The air is just different. Cue Pharrell’s song in the background 🎶“It might seem crazy what I am ’bout to say Sunshine, she’s here, you can take a break” 💃

Most people are out in full vacation mode enjoying the sun and getting tan.🌞

But let’s face the truth, vacation mode doesn’t always include screen time which can lead to lower engagement rates (scary… every social media manager’s worst nightmare). Keeping your social media active can help fight this and ensure your business stays with consistent activity

Here are some tips and tricks to help fight the social media silence.  💪🍑

Share fun and interactive Posts.

More than likely, your followers are on their phones. They want bite sized content that is easy to interact with. You have to make your posts stand out to make sure they stop scrolling. Create posts that encourage engagement.

  • Start a giveaway
  • Ask fun questions like:

Are there any summer traditions or rituals that you look forward to every year? Ice cream or popsicles: which do you prefer on a hot summer day? (#Ice cream or #popsicles)

  • Use fill in the blanks like:

My favorite place to travel is______  Summer nights are perfect for ______

Remember not all social content needs to relate to your business. Humanize your business by creating a person behind the brand that people can relate to that goes above and beyond your business.

Share your favorite summer things:

  • Any favorite recipes to enjoy in the heat. Desserts or the infamous BBQ.
  • Your favorite summer playlist
  • Your favorite thing to do to cool off from the sun.
  • Summer Bucket List.

🦜PrintCenterTIP: Share an employees travel story or a fun trip vlog that people can easily enjoy and take in. This is refreshing to see.

Find and showcase the focal points of your business that cater to what people can enjoy in the summer.

Everyone is looking for things to do. You want to let people know that you have what they are looking for. This helps establish relevance and how you specifically cater to summer needs and desires. The cool thing about this is you create a positive image of your business associated with summer. This can lead to brand loyalty and word-of-mouth referrals.

For example if you are in the restaurant business you want to highlight your outdoor patio and any events you might be having going on that people can socialize and enjoy. Any new fun limited refreshing drinks. A special karaoke night…. Anything like this is golden!

Helpful tips related to your industry that are applicable to the summer time.

Keep your followers’ best interest in mind. By following you they are already interested in you and your content. Offer useful guidance and insights. This will also help establish knowledge and expertise in your field beyond the summertime.

For example, if you’re in the real estate business you can share tips on how to keep your home cool or a home buyers checklist for the summertime. Find any way you can apply the season to your brand. The more fun the better!

Beyond all of this you still have to post about your products and services. But this time it can be more fun.

Start a campaign or photoshoot that captures the essence of summer.

You can showcase your product through photoshoots involving

  • The beach
  • Festival or Music Concert
  • Tropical destinations
  • Rooftop fun

And after, you can create a summer only offer and promote it as a limited time deal.
